Cow racing festival Indonesia

Once a year, ethnic Minangkabau in West Sumatra (Indonesia)  celebrate the harvest festival in dramatic cow racing.





Two cows in the race. Festival held once a year. This year there were 700 bulls attend.


The racing cows are healthy, trained and care prior to racing. In match, they are attached to wooden frames for balance.







This festival has become a part of the cultural life of ethnic Minangkabau in West Sumatra by the end of the season, this year held in late June. This so-called sport Pacu Jawi traditional Minangkabau tribe.




In addition to the purpose of celebrating the harvest, another main purpose of the festival is the people who want to sell cattle to potential customers.

Farmers will use hands, feet, mouth even biting to cow tail  in the race when needed to control two cows.
